2007 Summer of Movies

Published under Movies.

So here’s a list of the movies I’d like to watch this summer. This isn’t even taking into account little movies that I haven’t seen previews for that I might decide I do want to see. These are just movies that I know I want to see based on the franchise or hype.

In order of release (comments in the hover-over text):

Spider-man 3 (My review: C+)
Waitress (My review: A)
28 Weeks Later
Shrek the Third (My review: C-)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (My review: A-)
Ocean’s Thirteen
Hostel: Part II
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (My review: B)
D.O.A.: Dead or Alive
Evan Almighty (My review: C-)
Live Free or Die Hard
Transformers (My review: A)
Harry Potter: The Order of the Phoenix (My review: D+)
I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry
The Simpsons Movie (My review: B)
Bourne Ultimatum
Rush Hour 3
Stardust (My review: C+)

For perspective, that’s 16 movies at $10 each for two people. That’s $320 in movie tickets alone. Last summer I watched a grand total of 3 movies.

I’m not naive enough to think that I can possibly watch all of these movies without going crazy, nor am I gullible enough to believe that these movies will all be good. I expect some of them to suck, in fact, and when I need a movie break they’ll be the first to go.

Some of the ones that I’m willing to throw out offhand are Rush Hour 3, Ocean’s Thirteen, DOA, and The Simpsons. I also, by default, have to throw out Hostel II and 28 Weeks Later because the wife won’t watch horror movies.

Even with that, there’s a lot of movies to watch — a whole lot. If I’m good and diligent, I’ll try to review each as I watch it. Luckily, my readership is tiny and unlikely to complain if I don’t.

and there’s a trailer on Apple I think. Won’t be a blockbuster, but it looks pretty cool.

It’s unnatural to see Michelle Pfeiffer in this way. I feel dirty now. Thanks a lot.

  6. Dave!,

Watch the trailer – that’ll cure you.

  7. Lykaon,

Added it to the list. Neil Gaiman won me over without even watching the trailer.
