Don’t have a cow, man. Aye Carumba!

These were the catch-phrases of the Simpsons, an oddball satirical cartoon about a little boy named Bart. At least, that’s how I remember the Simpsons starting so many years ago.

Over the years, it seems that Homer took over as the poster child of the show.

bart.jpgI’ve never been a huge Simpsons fan. I don’t dislike the Simpsons. It can be funny on occasion, and it certainly has its own unique brand of humor.

Nonetheless, I felt compelled to watch the long-awaited Simpsons Movie this past week.

So what did I think of it? It’s really really hard to review this movie. You can’t say much bad for it because it’s so true to The Simpsons that you can’t fault it for being what it is.

Is it an epic movie? No. Does it breathe fresh air into an old tv show? No. Do we learn where Springfield really is? No.

It’s basically a triple-long episode of the show, complete with the same plot elements and relationship drama of the cartoon show — which is to say not much of either.

It has its funny parts and it isn’t without its charm. The most memorable part of the movie is the diddy that’s given away in the trailers “Spider-pig, Spider-pig, does whatever a Spider-pig does…”

There’s a fun addendum to the song saved for the movie that made me laugh.

Overall, this is going to be a short review because The Simpsons Movie is what it is. It is the television show expanded to one and a half hours for the sake of expanding it to one and a half hours.

It was entertaining, and everything one would expect. Neither bad nor good, it is just The Simpsons.

Verdict: B
